On September 15, 2023, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the launch of the Uttar Pradesh Matribhoomi Yojana to make the common man a direct participant in the development work of the state and to strengthen participatory rural economy and infrastructure. Through the Uttar Pradesh Mathrubhumi Yojana, citizens can bear 40% of the government’s cost for the development of infrastructure in their area. The state government has also decided to introduce one rUPee for the Uttar Pradesh Mathrubhumi Yojana.

According to an IE report, the government has also approved the suggestion to launch a rehabilitation scheme for Bengali Hindus who were displaced from East Pakistan in the 1970s. As per the suggestion, there are 63 such Hindu Bengali families, who will be rehabilitated on approximately 121.41 Hectare land in Kanpur Dehat district.

According to the details, under the Uttar Pradesh UP Mathrubhumi yojana such families will be given 2 acres of land for agricultural work and 200 square meter area for living on a lease of Re 1 for a period of 30 years, which can be extended for another 30 years.

It was extended twice. It was also said that an amount of Rs 1.2 lakh will be given to such families for the construction of houses. According to a government representative, 65 families were employed in a mill in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh, which was closed in 1984.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that under Mathrubhumi Yojana UP, every person will get the opportunity to directly participate in various works for the development of basic infrastructure in the villages. The state government will bear 50% of the total cost of the project, while the remaining 50% will be contributed by interested people. The project in turn can be named after the colleague’s relatives as per their wish.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the announcement regarding Uttar Pradesh UP Mathrubhumi Yojana by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana and District Panchayats using Hot Mix and Full Depth Reclamation system. 

The Chief Minister also asked the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments to submit an action plan for launching the new UP Mathrubhumi Yojana.

UP Mathrubhumi Yojana To Improve Rural Infrastructure

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the central and state governments are continuously working for the all-round development of villages. Mathrubhumi Yojana UP can prove to be a good effort in establishing the following in the villages.

  • Cattle Breed Improvement Center
  • Fire Service Station

CM Yogi Adityanath further said that the public can participate in every work be it the installation of CCTV for smart villages, development of cremation grounds or the installation of solar lights. Through the new Mathrubhumi Yojana UP, the concerned person will be able to take full credit for the project by bearing half of the total cost. 

While interacting with the chairpersons and members of Gram Panchayat, Area Panchayat and District Panchayat, the Chief Minister said that Panchayats need to be self-reliant.

On rural development, the Chief Minister further said that roads are not only a means of transportation but also a powerful means of strengthening the rural economy. Because of this, the village looks very beautiful. 

Countries with developed basic structures are also economically prosperous. In a state like Uttar Pradesh, about 80% of the population lives in rural background. To strengthen the rural economy, there is a need for good roads and better connectivity which is being continuously done through the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana 

The Chief Minister said that the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which was started by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the year 2000, has become a medium for the progress of villages.
