The Union Cabinet has set up the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct the Common Eligibility Test. Union Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar said that it is a historic decision that will benefit job seeking youth of the country. National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will fulfill the long-standing demand of the youth in the country.

In a way to make the recruitment process for non-gazetted posts in the central government and public sector banks, the central government set up the National Recruitment Agency. The National Recruitment Agency will conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for all the competitive examinations. NRA work as a preliminary single-window agency for shortlisting qualifying candidates from the bulk of aspirants and forward the list to SSC, IBPS, etc, to hold the mains.
The Common Eligibility Test will be conducted by NRA to screen and shortlist candidates for the Group B and C (non-technical) posts. The NRA will be conducting the examinations for the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, SSC, RRB, and IBPS. The NRA will focus on creating examination infrastructure in the 117 Aspirational Districts. The CET Examination score of the candidate shall be valid for a fixed time period of three years from the date of declaration of the result.

Central Government has announced a budget of 1517.57 crore rupees for the National Recruitment Agency. The expenditure will be undertaken over a period of three years. National Recruitment Agency will create transparency and ease in the recruitment process, among the candidate and the recruiting organization. Common Eligibility Test scores will be shared with Central and State Governments, PSUs, private sector for reducing recruitment costs of these organizations. The Common Eligibility Test will be conducted twice a year by the NRA.

✍ National Recruitment Agency will be conducting entrance tests for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
✍ Group-B (non-gazetted), Group-C (non-technical), and clerical posts in the government along with various equivalent recruitment in public sector banks will be done by CET. This agency will conduct preliminary examinations for all the above recruitment.
✍ The separate CET Exam will be conducted by the multi-agency body for every three levels of graduate, higher secondary (12th pass), and the matriculate (10th pass) candidates.
✍ On the basis of the CET score level, final selection for recruitment will be done by the separate specialized tiers (II, III, etc) of examination which will be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies.
✍ The CET Examination score of the candidate shall be valid for a fixed time period of three years from the date of declaration of the result.
✍ There will be no restriction imposed on the number of attempts taken by a candidate to appear in the CET subject to the upper age limit.
✍ Every year around 2.5 to 3 crore aspirants appear for each of these examinations for government jobs or banking jobs. The Common Eligibility Test will enable the aspirants to appear once and to apply for any or all of these recruitment agencies for the higher level of examination.
✍ The aspirants have the facility of registering on a common portal and give a choice of centers. On the Basis availability, centers would be allotted to the candidates.
✍ Common Eligibility Test will be conducted in 1,000 centers across India in both rural and urban areas. NRA will conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET) exam twice in a year online.
✍ The CET will be conducted in 12 different languages. This will provide facilities among the people from different parts of the country to take the exam and get an equal opportunity of being selected.
✍ The National Recruitment Agency will set up examination centers in every district of the country to help youths, especially women, from rural and far-flung areas of the country, so that they won’t be required to travel to another place to take recruitment tests.
✍ The CET reduced constraints of female candidates especially from rural areas which are faced by them while appearing in multiple examinations as they have to arrange for transportation and places to stay in places that are far away.
