AP Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme

Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme was launched by the CM Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy of the Andhra Pradesh Government. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that with the help of this scheme the students who want to continue their higher education will get financial funds from the government. This is due to the fact that poor families in the state are not able to pay high amounts of education fees. Many students of these poor families have a great academic score but due to financial problems, they couldn’t afford education fees. So, the government decided to help these students with the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme. 

Implementation Of Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme

The chief minister Mr. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced this scheme on 28th April 2020. But the implementation of the scheme is done in 2021. With the help of this scheme fee reimbursement benefits will be given to the 14lakh students of the state. The CM said that education is the top priority of the government. The scheme amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the applicant’s mother.

Incentives In The Scheme

Eligibility Criteria for Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme

If you want to register for the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme then you have to follow the eligibility criteria given below:-

  • Penson who has a government job is not eligible for the scheme.
  • If one of the family members is getting a pension then the student is not eligible for the scheme.
  • While the sanctuary workers are exempted from the scheme.
  • The students who are doing the following courses are eligible-
    • Polytechnic
    • ITI
    • Degree
  • The students must be enrolled in the following institution-
    • Government or Government Aided
    • Private Colleges affiliated to State Universities/ Boards.
  • The student’s annual family income should be less than Rs 2.5 Lakh per anum.
  • Beneficiaries should only have the wetland below 10 acres/ agricultural land below 25 acres/ or wetland and agricultural land under 25 acres.
  • The beneficiaries should not own any four-wheelers (Car, Taxi, Auto, etc).

Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme Guidelines

Chief Secretary Satish Chandra, Higher Education Department Andhra Pradesh issued some Guidelines for the implementation of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena. Here we have mentioned the guidelines issued by the department:

  • The collection fee in the colleges will be done after the notification released by the State Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission
  • Students need to pay the fees to the colleges that are decided by the government. No extra fees will be given to the colleges.
  • Attendance of the students and teaching and no teaching staff will be monitored through Aadhaar-linked Biometric.
  • Students need to maintain their 75% attendance otherwise, the student will not get the benefit of the scheme.
  • This scheme is not applicable to deemed and private varsities.
  • The scheme is not applicable to students studying through distance learning and correspondence courses
  • Also, the scheme is not for the students who belong to management and NRI quotas.

In the pandemic situation, all the institutes and colleges are closed till 31st March 2021. In this type of situation, the state government decided to provide lunch to the students at home. For this, the state government also issued an order to the district education officials and other concerned departments for providing rice, eggs, and peanut ‘chikkis” for the students. And these food packets will be distributed by the village volunteers to the student’s homes.
